OUR STORY

One day, I was browsing the internet for a shirt to make a statement about how I felt as a Muslim. It was one of those days when we were being portrayed in the media as something we aren’t (don’t remember which thing), and I couldn’t find anything better than ‘Keep it halal.’ So (very) long story short, I started designing my own.

And then, some 100 liters of fine Arabica coffee later and a lot of brainstorming with my partner, Barefaced came to life. It all started with this design. It’s supposed to be something for the proud, unapologetic Muslim who loves high-quality design and a little bit of attitude.

Yes, we know. Barefaced literally means ‘having an uncovered face.’ The irony wasn’t lost on us. It’s all about being bold, confident, and owning who we are.

We also have a thing for history. Muslims have shaped the world in incredible ways, yet somehow, people know Newton and Marie Curie but not Al-Khwarizmi or Fatima Al-Fihri. That’s like knowing Apple but never having heard of the guy who invented the first calculator (come to think of it, who wàs that guy?).

Long story short: through our designs—whether they make you think, smile, or just plain proud—we aim to spark conversations, spread good vibes, and celebrate our greatest asset: being Muslim.
